[ARCHIVED] Westlake Village Transit (Bus Program) Service Modification

The City was given notice that Durham Transportation Services, the City’s school bus program operator, will not have the necessary number of qualified drivers to operate all three of the City’s routes beginning Friday, September 17. In order to continue providing services to the extent possible, Durham has proposed the combination of Routes 1113 ( Green) and 1114 (Blue) into one route with a new timetable which began on Friday, September 17. Route 1115 (Orange) has not had its pickup times affected, drop off times may be adjusted slightly and is pending review. The newly combined route does not eliminate any of the current pickup locations, but does however necessitate modifications to the pickup and drop off times. The timetable attached to this email shows the estimated pickup and drop off times at each location. A timetable is currently being prepared to show drop off times for the early out day (Wednesday) for this route and will be provided in the coming days. Please note that the new combined route stops at White Oak Elementary twice to pick up all grades during their staggered release hours, however, stops already covered during the first release, are not revisited but additional stops may be near.

 

While some stops/times are not impacted, others have had their pick up or drop off times modified by as much as 30 minutes.

 

Additionally, the times provided are Durham’s best estimates and are subject to change once the new route is put into operation. The City is in active communication with the Las Virgenes Unified School District and Durham, however, they do not know when or if they will be able to rehire the necessary number of qualified drivers to restaff all 3 of the City’s routes. The City will continue to remain in communication with Durham in order to bring updates to parents as soon as they become available. We encourage parents to review the new timetable in order ensure that it fits your needs, and if for any reason you would like a refund of your bus pass as a result of these changes, City staff are available to process refunds.
