Trash and Recyclables Collection

Westlake Village has an exclusive agreement with Waste Management/GI Industries to provide trash and recycling collection service for all residential customers in the city.


To start or stop trash service, or for questions about your trash bill, please contact Waste Management directly at cslosangeles@wm.com or 800-675-1171. Additional information is available on Waste Management's web site.


Trash is collected once per week, including regular waste, recyclables, and green waste.


Holiday Collection

Trash collection service is not provided on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. When one of these holidays falls on a weekday, collection will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week. For example if the holiday falls on a Thursday, Thursday service will be on Friday, and Friday service will be on Saturday. If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, there will be no change to trash collection service that week.


Separating Waste

Residents must separate trash into separate containers provided by Waste Management: regular waste, recyclables, and green waste. Bulky Items

Residents may request special pickups of furniture, appliances, bundled tree branches, and similar bulky items. Residents receive two pickups per year at no additional charge. Additional pickups are $25 per pickup. To schedule a bulky item pickup, contact Waste Management at 800-675-1171.


Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and electronic waste (e-waste) cannot be placed in the trash. There are various options for disposing of HHW and e-waste including curbside collection once per month. Please visit the HHW and e-waste page for more information.
