Westlake Village Community Park/YMCA Project Information UPDATE ON COMMUNITY PARK PROJECT - January 11, 2010 The Community Park Project is being developed in 2 distinct phases: (1) site development and (2) park construction. In the site development phase, the park site will be graded along with the installation of all utilities to operate the park. The second phase is the actual construction of the above-ground park facilities. This phase will have a public outreach portion for input on the facilities to be included and built as part of the park. This outreach program will be advertised to the entire community through the City’s Newsletter and website; so keep an eye out for these announcements. Grading activity on the eastern end of the project has resumed. This work involves the grading on the eastern hillside and backfilling the area created by the removal and remediation of a pre-existing ancient landslide. Work will continue through the end of January. The overall look and features of the second or easterly cut slope is starting to take shape already and the front slope of the project is almost completed. In some areas along Thousand Oaks Boulevard, almost the entire height of the slope is finished. Both the entry and exit roadways can now be also be seen. With regard to schedule, the grading work with the heavy equipment is expected to be completed in early February 2010. The construction of the utilities for the site, such as water, sewer, reclaimed water and electricity will start in the next few months and be completed in early 2011. If you have any questions concerning this project, please call City Hall at 818-706-1613.
