Building Permits are issued by the Los Angeles County Building and Safety office in Calabasas. While there are some infrequent exceptions, prior to issuance of a Building Permit, a Zoning Clearance must first be obtained from the Planning Department. It is recommended that Zoning Clearances be obtained prior to applying for a Building Permit to avoid duplication of fees and possible delays resulting from required changes to plans.
Building Permit records
Records of previously issues Building Permits are held by the Los Angeles County Building and Safety office in Calabasas. Copies of these records must be obtained at that office, and are not available at Westlake Village City Hall. Please note that while the Building Permit records are archived by the County, the plans which accompany them are generally not kept after the permit's final clearance or expiration.
